A Wild Scumbag Appears!

I’m on rage mode today because of this. Please excuse any inappropriate language I might use here.

A while ago I was browsing posts at the group CNPH: Are you a Legit Cosplay Shop/Seller/Buyer? and I came across this rant with printscreens of some scumbag Ozine butler who was disrespecting her friend because he wanted a Sinbad costume for cheap and he hates paying for the labor fee.

Here are the screencaps : (Sorry didn’t have time to edit)

Cosplay is an expensive hobby. Magastos. Especially goes for costumes with good quality. If you don’t want to spend so much, then either make your own costume or just quit cosplay altogether instead of ranting on CNPH Marketplace.

Another issue here is that this guy Rockymar Cheng Cacnio, publicly harassed that guy he tagged in the Market. Poor guy couldn’t say a thing because he doesn’t want the issue to grow. He ignored people who told him that he was going against the rules and even went on to bash congoers just because they’re congoers.  Remember, without congoers, your con will be a flop.

This status is kinda ironic

This status is kinda ironic

My message: Fuck you! Just because you’re an Ozine butler you don’t have the right to disrespect people and the market rules like that! Who are you, the person who invented cosplay? Who cares if you work for Ozine? You’re not a celebrity. Cosplay is for fun, not for acquiring fame and status, ya scumbag. I’ll help in reporting and banning you from the CNPH Market and maybe even from Ozine.

Moving On

As many of you have noticed, I’ve been gone for a while and with good reason. I was busy with real life and I felt that all this bashing and criticizing doesn’t help anyone. Yeah, I still hate her but I don’t care about her anymore. I still flinch at the sight of jejecosplayers, but I learned to just shrug and walk away. Yeah, we are all cosplaying for fun (except I don’t cosplay), and it won’t be fun anymore if we hated each other just because some guy or girl didn’t get a character’s hair right. Why don’t we just point out their flaws to them in a nice way?

As for me, I think I’ll just post opinions on other aspects of pop culture and some social commentary. I’m moving on from all the hate and I still think Abundouche is a douche that needs to be eliminated.

Chienna WorldCosplay Account

You can find it here: http://worldcosplay.net/member/59137/

She’s even got the meme I made! I’m sooooo flattered. You can find all her fail cosplay attempts here.

Sorry for the incredibly short post. I promise to make longer ones when I can.

OMG I’m scared (LOL)

Alodia or Myrtle?

Okay. I know this issue is so out of date, but I’m going to write about it anyway.

I’ve actually met Myrtle in person (I was still an innocent fan back then and I asked her a few questions about cosplay) and she’s not so bad. She’s actually pretty endearing, to be honest. I don’t know if she’s really like that, since I was just a fan and we’re not close or anything, so I can’t really judge. I can’t judge Alodia either, since I haven’t seen her in person (thankfully) and I didn’t bother do much research on her behavior or something. But since these two are both well-known for their cosplay, let’s start there.

Alodia

Pros:

  • She is older and has cosplayed a lot of characters since she was 15 years old (she is 24 now). She also has numerous cosplay competition awards and endorsement deals under her belt.
  • She makes her own props (her Lina Inverse costume is said to be her creation).
  • She belongs to a rich family, therefore having access to quality costumes, wigs, toys, and cameras.
  • She is a true blue otaku who loves watching anime and playing video games
  • She does her make-up well and suits whoever she’s cosplaying (most of the time)
  • She has a huge international following (not that I actually ever heard of them)
  • She has a lot of whiteknights (Alodians, Alodia Army, Alodia Navy, etc.)
  • She was cool (past tense)
  • Her artworks are amazing
  • She can play the piano
  • She has a lot of connections with a lot of famous people
  • Most of her cosplays are actually pretty awesome and are of high quality (MOST not ALL)
  • She earned international fame after years of working hard

Cons

  • Her voice and manner of speaking are so weird I wonder someone with her face talks like that.
  • She still has a lot to learn about being a host (and fix her speech)
  • Some of her cosplays are out of character (probably because of her job and she can’t pick characters she likes, they force her to wear costumes of characters she doesn’t know or like)
  • She cheated on a Yahoo! OMG Awards Poll (it wasn’t necessary and it gave her a negative image)
  • Most of her fans aren’t even otakus and they worship her and call her a goddess and she doesn’t care if they go too overboard (see reports of recently concluded Toycons)
  • She acts too childish it’s not cute anymore (probably because of her job and image)
  • She looks too unnatural and unrecognizable from her old pictures, sparking plastic surgery rumors

Myrtle

Pros

  • She is an SK Chairman and gathered a lot of respect for her abilities
  • She is an Accountancy student from the University of the Philippines in the Visayas, earning her a lot of respect from me because UP is my dream school
  • She is the Big Winner of this year’s PBB Teen Edition, easily gaining a lot of fans and an ABS-CBN contract in the process
  • She is a good singer and dancer
  • She has a lot of decent cosplays (mostly game characters)
  • She appeals to the mainstream audience

Cons

  • Most of her cosplays are out of character
  • Wears cosplay costumes everyday (man, that’s hard but totally impractical)
  • Her costumes don’t fit her well/have wrong or missing details
  • Her makeup makes her look like an espasol
  • She sucks at hosting
  • She obviously chased fame since her Kpop cover days that’s why she joined PBB
  • She appeals to the mainstream audience, therefore encouraging the jejecosplayer boom (AKA the cancer of society)

There you have it! But if you’re going to ask me, I’ll probably choose Alodia. She already has an overwhelming advantage to begin with, and Myrtle simply doesn’t stand a chance (especially with that Asuka Langely plugsuit). It’s really strange how someone as small as Myrtle (not an insult) got to be compared to someone as large as Alodia (not a compliment). Myrtle doesn’t even come close to Alodia in terms of success and quality of cosplay. If I get to pick a rival for Alodia, it’d be Jin Joson because she totally surpasses Alodia when it comes to cosplay and awards. Jin is lucky not to have fantards like the ones swarming Alodia, and there’s virtually nothing to hate about her (unless she’s secretly a bitch worse than Wilonah).

There is Hope!!!!

I’ve been lurking in this group called CNPH Cosplay Market and there was some person who brought about the topic of the true essence of cosplaying.

However, for some reason, I forgot to take a screenshot of the post (stupid move for me). But I’ll summarize the high points of the conversation.

There are actually a lot of Filipino cosplayers who know and believe that cosplay is not just putting on  a costume and looking cute for the cameras, but deep love for the character and proper portrayal goes with a good costume.

That thread also hoped to educate newbie cosplayers, and some actually swore they’d change their old famewhoring and camwhoring ways for the betterment of the community.

There is hope! Even if it is slow and almost insignificant, there is a positive change from the ways of old! Just give it more time, and hopefully newbie cosplayers will be informed.

Chienna Joins Animax’s Ani-Mate Contest

First, I saw this

Then I was like:

“How would she get in there? I bet Mike Abundouche pulled a few strings for her to get in.”

and

“If she ever wins that contest, you know who to blame”

OH GOD PLEASE ANYONE BUT HER

On Myrtle and Post-PBB Fame and its Effects on the Philippine Cosplay Scene

Don’t be quick to judge, it’s not her fault she didn’t deserve to win, she had help from her fans and the producers of PBB.  And all this post-PBB fame is really helping her get in showbiz. That’s what she wanted, right? Her kleptomaniac friend Ayumi just had her as a special guest on flippish.com, Chienna has  no congratulations for Myrtle after her big win, Alodia gave her greetings, and others more wished her well. But what about cosplay? I heard Alodia declined showbiz offers at first because of her love for cosplay *rolls eyes*. How come Myrtle didn’t? Maybe it’s because she believes she can manage cosplaying and showbiz at the same time (something only really dedicated people would do). If she’s happy about all that, then I guess all I can do is wish her luck.

But what about the cosplay community? What the heck are “jejecosplayers”? Why do they idolize Myrtle so much? Why are their cosplays so half-assed? One of the answers is Myrtle herself. Why?

1. Because she cosplayed while in the PBB house, cosplay has been brought on mainstream national TV unlike Alodia’s stint on LOL, and jejemons thought dressing up on an ordinary day is cool.

2. Cosplaying and/or dressing up on an ordinary day is a lot of effort, and not to mention, a lot of money. These jejemons don’t have any money, so they resort to either stealing or crappy cosplays, both of which are cringe- and jail- worthy (and remember that person who said the Tagalog word for cosplay is “Myrtle”?)

3. Dumb and ordinary people get the wrong ideas about cosplay. They think that if they cosplay a really cute or sexy character they’ll get  famous. Yeah, they’ll get attention, but for all the wrong reasons (GT.com, sinrealm, etc.).

Myrtle looks really old with all that makeup now. I almost forgot she was only 17. I thought she was 25 or something.

Myrtle with BFF Ayumi

BFF's indeed (I just hope Ayumi just isn't feeding on her fame)

Decline

Continuation of my previous post:

I knew they wouldn’t last. I knew the Aegyo Sisters had strained relationships among their members from the start. I knew they wouldn’t last long. I knew Alodia really didn’t like Chienna. I knew they weren’t really into the hobby; they were doing it just for fame. Somehow, our prayers were answered, and with it brought a whole new breed of these so-called “jejecosplayers”, another problem of the Philippine cosplay community.

Even with the decline of one of the main reasons our community got fucked up, there are still those perverts, wannabes, jejecosplayers and the like who destroy the spirit of cosplay. There has to be something done about those kinds of people. I know we can do it, we just have to really DO it.
